A strap winding apparatus features a bracket with a frame (40, 112) that stores a rotating shaft assembly (50, 120) when not in use, providing compact and secure storage without disassembly. The shaft (52, 122) includes open-ended slots (54, 124) for receiving a strap (20, 108), and a crank (56, 126) extends perpendicularly from the shaft (52, 122) to wind the strap. A handle member (60, 130) permits both handheld operation and mounting to a truck bed (16, 106) via a hook member (68, 134) for tool-free attachment, while an auxiliary connector (140) enables attachment to various structures, such as a wall hook, or to a user's belt or pants, facilitating hands-free carrying or temporary storage.
