Abstract[English] Methods and a computer application program for identifying manual use of a phone by the driver of a vehicle. The application collects heading, velocity and radial acceleration data already available to the operating system of all smart phones and uses the asymmetry of Coriolis acceleration with respect to right and left turns to detect manual phone usage by a driver. Detection may result in a visual and auditory warning that would incriminate the driver if the vehicle were to be stopped by law enforcement authorities or involved in an accident.[French] L'invention concerne des procédés et un programme d’application informatique servant à identifier l’utilisation manuelle d’un téléphone par le conducteur d’un véhicule. L’application collecte des données de cap, de vitesse et d’accélération radiale dont dispose déjà le système d’exploitation de tous les téléphones intelligents et utilise l’asymétrie de l’accélération de Coriolis par rapport aux virages à droite et à gauche pour détecter un usage manuel du téléphone par un conducteur. La détection peut avoir pour conséquence un avertissement visuel et auditif qui incriminerait le conducteur si le véhicule venait à être stoppé par des autorités répressives ou impliqué dans un accident.
