Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products that provide for UE-triggered downlink alert information. In the context of a method, the method includes determining, at a user equipment (UE), one or more monitoring occasions for reception of downlink alert information from a node; providing, during a first time occasion, for transmission of a request for the downlink alert information, wherein the request is indicative of the one or more monitoring occasions; and monitoring, during a second time occasion, for the downlink alert information in response to the request, wherein the second time occasion is based at least in part on the one or more monitoring occasions, and wherein the downlink alert information is associated with downlink data buffered between the first time occasion and the second time occasion.[French]
