Abstract[English] A process for producing ammonium sulphate fertiliser comprises the steps of: (a) bacterially leaching a sulphide material containing iron and sulphur to form an iron containing solution containing sulphuric acid, ferric sulphate, ferrous sulphate and non-ferrous metals and a leach residue; (b) treating the iron containing solution to separate a selected iron compound leaving a non-ferrous metal containing solution; (c) treating the non-ferrous metal containing solution with ammonia or ammonium hydroxide to produce a solution containing ammonium sulphate and non-ferrous metals, at least a portion of said non-ferrous metals being in the form of amine complexes; (d) recovering the non-ferrous metals; and (e) recovering ammonium sulphate following recovery of the non-ferrous metals.[French] L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'engrais au sulfate d'ammonium comprenant les étapes consistant à : (a) effectuer une lixiviation bactérienne d'un matériau sulfuré contenant du fer et du soufre pour former une solution contenant du fer contenant de l'acide sulfurique, du sulfate ferrique, du sulfate ferreux et des métaux non ferreux et un résidu de lixiviation ; (b) traiter la solution contenant du fer pour séparer un composé de fer sélectionné en laissant une solution contenant un métal non ferreux ; (c) traiter la solution contenant un métal non ferreux avec de l'ammoniac ou de l'hydroxyde d'ammonium pour produire une solution contenant du sulfate d'ammonium et des métaux non ferreux, au moins une partie desdits métaux non ferreux étant sous la forme de complexes d'amine ; (d) récupérer les métaux non ferreux ; et (e) récupérer le sulfate d'ammonium après récupération des métaux non ferreux.
