Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to performing (802) a cell selection procedure for a set of one or more cells, where a synchronization signal or essential system information (SI) associated with a first cell of the set of one or more cells corresponds to a periodic basis for transmission, and where at least one part of essential SI associated with a second cell of the set of one or more cells is associated with an on- demand basis for transmission; selecting (804) the first cell to camp on based at least in part on the cell selection procedure; and assigning (806) the second cell as a candidate cell for one or more of a cell reselection procedure or the cell selection procedure based at least in part on a failure to acquire the at least one part of the essential SI.[French]
