Abstract[English] The invention relates to a method of verifying the detection capability of an X-ray inspection apparatus with respect to a product type of in particular a food product, wherein a body is subject to X-rays propagating through the body in an inspection zone of the X-ray inspection apparatus. According to the invention, the body is a phantom mainly made from artificial material and comprising at least two regions (A, B) with different propagation path lengths, their path length difference correlating with a difference of measured X-ray attenuation arising between regions of a product sample of said product type mimicked by the phantom which regions correspond to said regions (A, B) of the phantom.[French] L'invention concerne un procédé de vérification de la capacité de détection d'un appareil d'inspection par rayons X par rapport à un type de produit, en particulier un produit alimentaire, un corps étant soumis à des rayons X se propageant à travers lui dans une zone d'inspection de l'appareil. Selon l'invention, le corps est un fantôme principalement constitué d'un matériau artificiel et comprenant au moins deux régions (A, B) avec des longueurs de trajet de propagation différentes, leur différence de longueur de trajet étant en corrélation avec une différence d'atténuation mesurée des rayons X entre les régions d'un échantillon de produit dudit type imité par le fantôme, régions qui correspondent auxdites régions (A, B) du fantôme.
