Abstract[English]
in the exhaust gas using a nitrogenous reductant. The SCR catalyst is liable to become sulphated in use. The system (12) also comprises a controller (26) that is configured, when in use, e.g. pre-programmed, to apply a desulphation treatment to the SCR catalyst (16) when it is determined that the SCR catalyst (16) is sulphated, thereby to increase NOx conversion activity of a sulphated SCR catalyst (16). The desulphation treatment comprises providing hydrogen gas in the exhaust gas stream upstream of the sulphated SCR catalyst (16), in a predetermined concentration sufficient to promote removal of sulphur from the sulphated SCR catalyst at a predetermined contact temperature.[French]
