Abstract[English] The present invention relates to a method of determining the condition of a metal powder for use in an additive manufacturing process, the method comprising the steps of dark field illuminating a region of the metal powder with electromagnetic radiation; detecting the intensity of the electromagnetic radiation reflected back from the metal powder; and processing the detected intensity of the reflected electromagnetic radiation to determine the condition of the metal powder.[French] La présente invention concerne un procédé de détermination de l'état d'une poudre métallique destinée à être utilisée dans un procédé de fabrication additive, le procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à éclairer un champ sombre d'une région de la poudre métallique avec un rayonnement électromagnétique; détecter l'intensité du rayonnement électromagnétique réfléchi par la poudre métallique; et traiter l'intensité détectée du rayonnement électromagnétique réfléchi pour déterminer l'état de la poudre métallique.
