The present invention relates to a method for operating a hydrogen combustion engine, comprising the steps of: commencing injection of hydrogen by means of a hydrogen injector, detecting early pre-ignition prior to a setpoint ignition time of the hydrogen, and, if early pre-ignition has been detected, immediately ending the injection of hydrogen by the hydrogen injector.[French]
