Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Schmalflächenbeschichtung eines Plattenelementes (1), insbesondere einer Möbelplatte, Holzwerkstoffplatten, Arbeitsplatten, Spanplatten, Leichtbauplatten, Innenausbauplatten, Türen, Faserzementplatten oder dergleichen, - wobei die Schmalflächenbeschichtung mittels Kantenbandprofilen (2) erfolgt, die eine aus B-Material, beispielsweise aus Recyclingmaterial, bestehende Basisschicht (3) aufweisen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, - dass die Kantenbandprofile (2) eine geringere Breite (B3, B4) als die Dicke D des Plattenelements (1) aufweisen, - dass wenigstens ein Kantenbandprofil (2) zunächst derart an wenigstens einer der Schmalflächen (15) befestigt wird, dass das Plattenelement (1) zumindest an einer Seite unter Bildung von wenigstens einer, vorzugsweise im Querschnitt gesehen eckförmigen, Ausnehmung (7, 8) übersteht, und - dass danach oder zeitgleich die Ausnehmung (7) oder die Ausnehmungen (7,8) entlang des Randes des Plattenelements (1) mit einem zweiten, vorzugsweise polymeren A-Material (A), vorzugsweise mittels eines Schmelzverfahrens, aufgefüllt werden.
