Abstract[English]
A swivel caster comprises a wheel, an electric motor (51) incorporated into a wheel hub for driving the wheel, and a shaft for connecting the swivel caster to a mobile wheeled device and allowing the swivel caster to rotate around a longitudinal axis of the shaft. The swivel caster further comprises a sensor arrangement (65) comprising a rotary encoder arranged in said wheel hub and configured to measure an angular acceleration of the wheel, and a controller (64) configured to control a drive current provided to the electric motor (51) in dependence of the measured angular acceleration. In this way, a swivel caster is provided that is able to assist an operator in moving a mobile wheeled device with an assisting torque in direct dependence of a force exerted on the mobile wheeled device by a person pushing or pulling it, thus reflecting the intention of that person.[French]
Une roulette pivotante comprend une roue, un moteur électrique (51) incorporé dans un moyeu de roue pour entraîner la roue et un arbre pour relier la roulette pivotante à un dispositif à roues mobiles et permettre à la roulette pivotante de tourner autour d'un axe longitudinal de l'arbre. La roulette pivotante comprend en outre un agencement de capteur (65) comprenant un codeur rotatif disposé dans ledit moyeu de roue et configuré pour mesurer une accélération angulaire de la roue, et un dispositif de commande (64) configuré pour commander un courant d'entraînement fourni au moteur électrique (51) en fonction de l'accélération angulaire mesurée.
