The invention relates to a method (100) for enabling a positioning procedure, comprising the following steps at a device (10) in a communications network (1): - Determining (101) a position (52) and an orientation of an antenna (11) in relation to a reference point (51) and/or a reference mapping system (50) for the device (10), wherein the reference point (51) of the device (10) is defined by a reference position (51) based on the reference mapping system (50), - Mapping (102) the orientation of the antenna (11) in relation to an orientation of the device (10), wherein the orientation of the device (10) is specified by an orientation information based on the reference mapping system (50), - Generating (103) a message comprising the determined position and the mapped orientation of the antenna (11) of the device (10), - Transmitting (104) the message to at least one further entity (20) in the communications network (1) to enable a positioning procedure.[French]
