Die Erfindung betrifft ein Sicherheitselement zur Herstellung von Wertdokumenten, wie Banknoten, Schecks oder dergleichen. Das Sicherheitselement (4) weist eine Vorderseite (2) und eine Rückseite (78) auf. Das Sicherheitselement (4) weist einen Substratkörper (37) auf, welcher eine sich über einen Bereich erstreckende Gitterstruktur (38, 49) mit darauf befindlicher Reflektorschicht (52) aufweist, und die Gitterstruktur zeigt in Draufsicht und/ oder Transmission mindestens eine Farbe. Die Gitterstruktur (38, 49) hat mindestens zwei im sichtbaren Spektralbereich nicht erkennbare Teilbereiche (10-14 und 22-32), in denen jeweils die Gitterstruktur (38, 49) einheitlich ausgebildet ist, wobei sich die Gitterstrukturen (38, 49) zwischen den Teilbereichen (10-14 und 22-32) in mindestens einem Gitterstrukturparameter (h, d) so unterscheiden, dass die Teilbereiche (10-14 und 22-32) hinsichtlich ihrer Absorption im nahen Infrarotbereich unterschiedlich sind.[English]
