A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium allow a user equipment to determine when to apply a system information acquisition period. In the context of a method, the method receives an extended discontinuous reception configuration. The method receives a modification period configuration. The method receives a message indicating modified system information. The method determines an operation status for extended discontinuous reception. The method applies, based on the message and the operation status, a system information acquisition procedure at the start of either a next modification period based on the modification period configuration or a next extended discontinuous reception acquisition period based on the extended discontinuous reception configuration.[French]
